Edmund Matyjaszek was born in London, and now lives in Ryde, Isle of Wight, with his family. He has just completed 14 years as Principal of Priory School of Our Lady of Walsingham. He was educated at Wadham College, Oxford, where he studied Classics and Law. He is a poet and playwright. Over 120 of his poems have been published and featured in many anthologies, winning numerous prizes and awards.
1. He was a Director and Trustee of the Poetry Society 2004-2007, and representative for the Poetry Society “Stanza” on the Isle of Wight 2005-2010.
2. His play on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, The Consultation, featuring what is in effect the first stage version of a psycho-analysis of Christ, received a “London Writers” award from Kwame Kwei-Armah, Artistic Director of the Young Vic, and has been professionally performed twice.
3. His plays, Galileo’s Revenge, on the nuclear issue, and Edge of the World, have both been awarded prizes.
4. Publications include: “Walsingham: England’s Nazareth”, “The Rosary: England’s Prayer” - St Paul's Publishing - and “England: The Dowry of Mary: Meaning & Mission”.
5. He broadcasts for the Ordinariate, Radio Maria England & Premier Christian Radio.
